Sacagawea was an Indian, of the Shoshone tribe. She served as a guide to Lewis, and Clark in their quest westward. On the obverse side, she presents herself with her small child. She appears as a beautiful, frosted portrait, with bright, mirror like fields. The reverse displays a majestic, soaring eagle. 17 stars circle the eagle. These stars represent the 17 states of the Union, at the time of the expedition.
